I know the secret of life, interestingly: it’s pleasure in simple things. I’ve always had this since I started growing up; I realised why I was mostly happy. It’s because I took pleasure in the simplest, little things. Like a meal I’m going to have, or a new album by my favourite band, or I’m just having an ace day in my office: the music’s on, I’m doing some good work, and I just remind myself that, ‹I couldn’t be happier right now.› It’s never looking at longer, bigger-term things. My golden rule is that I’m just constantly surprised and delighted by why I’m happy because of all these little bits and pieces. I take great pleasure in little successes. Simon Collison.
