The Berlingske typeface is created for typefoundry Playtype by partner and designer in both in e-Types and Playtype, Jonas Hecksher. Originally this typeface was created for the Danish daily newspaper Berlingske, but was further developed for nearly four years since 2010.

With its 227 weights and almost half a million glyphs, Berlingske is complete as the largest typeface ever made in Denmark.

The significance of Berlingske is the sleek and impressively consistent design that lies in every single letter. The homogeneity of this major piece of work embraces a large scale of subject areas; news, fashion, art, politics, economic, society, culture, sport, and lifestyle; and spans newscasting, captures, and headlines, through to lifestyle reporting.

The enormous amount of weights - which transform from feminine and elegant sans serif, to highly readable classic body text fonts, and end up as expressive heavyweight stencils - are what make this typeface suitable and durable for serious and professional graphic work.
